Interest.com's weekly survey of major lenders, taken July 29, found the average interest rate for a:
30-year, fixed-rate loan rose to 5.56% from 5.55% the previous week. A year ago, it was 6.70%.
15-year, fixed-rate loan fell to 4.88% from 4.89%. A year ago, it was 6.22%.
30-year, jumbo loan (for mortgages exceeding $417,000 to $729,750, depending on the city) rose to 6.62% from 6.49% the previous week. A year ago, it was 7.65%. One-year, adjustable-rate loan fell to 5.08% from 5.23% the previous week. A year ago, it was 6.26%.
Five-year, adjustable-rate loan rose to 4.95% from 4.93% the previous week. A year ago, it was 6.35%.
